Common questions
What is a PostgreSQL MCP server?
A PostgreSQL MCP server connects AI assistants like Claude to your PostgreSQL database using the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Instead of configuring local servers on every device, Synra gives you one managed, secure MCP endpoint URL. Your credentials are encrypted with AES-256, queries are read-only by default, and every request is logged.
What databases do you support?
PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL Server, and Supabase are all supported. Connect any PostgreSQL database — AWS RDS, Neon, Railway, Render, DigitalOcean, self-hosted, and more. MySQL and MS SQL Server connect via standard connection strings. More connectors coming — let us know what you need.
Is my data safe?
Yes. All connections are read-only by default — we block INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, DROP, and ALTER at the gateway level. Your credentials are encrypted with AES-256 and only decrypted at request time. Every query is logged.
How does it work with Claude Desktop?
You paste your Synra endpoint URL into Claude Desktop via Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector. No JSON config files, no .env setup. Claude can then query your database through our secure gateway.
Can Claude modify my database?
No. Synra only allows SELECT queries. Any attempt to run INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, or other write operations is blocked and logged.
Do you store my query results?
No. We log metadata (which tool was called, when, and response status) for your audit trail, but we never store the actual data returned from your database.
Can I try it before paying?
Yes — the Solo plan comes with a 7-day free trial. Connect your database, run real queries from Claude or Cursor, and cancel before the trial ends if it's not for you. You won't be charged until the trial is over.
What's the difference between Solo, Starter, and Annual?
Solo is $9.99/month with 1 database connection and 1,000 requests/day — enough for one project. Starter is $19/month with 3 connections and 10,000 requests/day. Annual is $149/year for the same access as Starter, about 35% off the monthly price. All plans are read-only by default with encryption and audit logs, and you can cancel anytime.
